Loud Noises and Anxiety in Animals

Why are so many animals afraid of loud noises like thunderstorms and fireworks? With 4th of July upon us and the peak of thunderstorm season in many parts of the country, many pet parents wonder why their pet gets so stressed.

Animals are sensitive and just like humans, some more sensitive than others. Our dog Holly, is fearful of both thunder and fireworks. These sounds send her seeking shelter and safety in the bathtub and other tight enclosed spaces in our house. Animals live at a very high vibration and thunder and thunderstorms can really send their nervous system into over drive. Storms are natures way of clearing out old fear and negativity from an area and to any being who is sensitive to lower vibrations, can really make them react because the vibration is so much lower than theirs.

There are many ways to help an animal feel less anxious when loud noises are happening around them. Because each animal is different, what might work for one, might not be as effective for another. Here are some ideas:

*Talk calmly to your pet and reassure him or her. Notice if you have any anxiety and breathe to lower your stress level. Animals are very sensitive to their humans thought and emotions. If you are stressed, they will be too.

*Use white noise such as a fan to help drown out the sound. The white noise calms the brain and allows the body to relax.

*Allow your pet to seek out a comfortable, safe place to help them feel safe. They intuitively know the best place to go.

* Use natural remedies to help calm your pet such as lavender or frankincense essential oils. Put a drop in your hand and rub your hands together, then gently massage it onto your pets neck and back. These work best if given to take affect prior to the loud noises so they can start working before your animal gets anxious.

*Stay with your pet during the thunderstorm or other loud noise, if possible. You being there will help them feel far less anxious than if they are alone.

* Send your animal Angel grounding healing energy in the color of bright emerald green and gold. Visualize your pet in an emerald green spa bath. Don’t worry if your pet doesn’t like water, the spa bath is healing energy, and not water. The color emerald green helps to clear fear and ground your pet. You will feel better too.
